October 18, 2018 – E-Rail for the OK: Could passenger rail sustain our quality of life? at the Kelowna Innovation Centre
The fast pace of growth in Kelowna is increasing congestion on our roads and bridges and will continue to into the future. Congestion effects the movement of people and goods up and down the Okanagan Valley. With growth set to nearly double in the Valley over the next 30 years, our quality of life now and for future generations hangs in the balance. Evidence from cities around the world show that building rail can be up to five to ten times more affordable than upgrading/replacing roads and bridges. On a cost per km basis, this could mean considerable savings over time. Rail reduces stress, pollution and environmental impact, and is a convenient and fun way to get around.
Ride the rails to a sleeker, cleaner future!
