Dr. Gordon Lovegrove is passionate about sustainable communities and is one of the School of Engineering’s experts in applied sustainable civil engineering. His sustainability expertise stems from over 30 years of hands-on professional engineering experience and innovative, rigorous science-based research. In addition to his valuable contributions to the School’s teaching and research programs at UBCO, Dr. Lovegrove works hard off-campus as a volunteer to promote sustainable lifestyles, government, and built form in Kelowna and globally.

Mohamed A. Hegazi
Kaden Workun
Kaden has completed his BSc. in Mechanical Engineering and is enrolled in his first year of his MASc. in Civil Engineering. Kaden takes great interest in the potential of hydrogen as an alternative fuel source, and aims to help the Sustainable Transport Safety team lead the way to a hydrogen powered future. Currently, he is a member of the mechanical team working on the Green Goat Hydrail retrofit project.
Graeme Damberger
Graeme is completing his final year in his undergraduate degree in electrical engineering with a mechatronics option and minor in computer science. With a interest of industrial automation and control, Graeme is starting off his research career working with the electrical half of the GreenGoat team. As well Graeme is working in developing course material on Hydrail and working as a TA for ENGR 505.

Alex White
Alex is a fourth year science student with a focus in physics and computer science. She is motivated by renewable energy integration and greenhouse-gas reducing technology. She is working on the electrical team under Mohammed Hegazi’s leadership to hydrogen retrofit the New-Westminister GreenGoat train.
Laura Chatham
Laura is completing her final year of her Bachelor’s Degree in Chemistry, with Honours in physical chemistry. Her background is in ski coaching, team leading, and program development, altogether supporting her passion for healthy, sustainable lifestyle and community design. She is the lead researcher of SMARTer Growth’s Okanagan Cohousing project, is working for the Canadian Cohousing Network to increase affordability in cohousing across Canada, and is helping to launch KENDYL FARMS as Canada’s first large-scale integrated vertical farming operation.
